How do I know if I really need coaching or counseling?
It’s a little different for everyone. Some signs that you might need some help from a professional are when the way you feel begins to negatively impact your sleep, your job, appetite, relationships with friends and loved ones, or your decision-making abilities. If you find that you feel “blue” a lot, or that things just aren’t getting better or even that things seem hopeless – these are also pretty strong indicators that it’s time to seek out a trained professional to help.
why shouldn't i just work through this on my own?
It’s easy to put off seeking help for something that’s negatively impacting the way we feel. In fact, the decision to get help can actually be extremely difficult for many people. Often times we dismiss feelings of anxiety, emotional pain, relationship stress, or depression as “just life” – even to the point of encountering real difficulty in normal day-to-day functioning. Deciding to take responsibility for your mental wellbeing and is an empowering first step. It takes courage, but it puts you back in control of your feelings and wellbeing. Even this small action step of reaching out can have a surprisingly positive effect on your outlook!
What does professional therapy or coaching provide?
Professional counseling gives you an opportunity to share, but also to gain new understanding and perspective. Life can be hard at times, and difficult circumstances are sometimes beyond our control, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Therapy helps you set achievable goals, and begin to make lasting changes to help you reach them. Through getting to the root of the issues and learning techniques for changing your unhealthy behaviors, you’re equipped to both regain control and practice healthy patterns for long-lasting improvement.
Is this covered by my insurance?
Insurance covers some counseling, depending on your individual plan. Every plan is different. When using insurance there must be a diagnosis of a mental health disorder and follow medical necessity guidelines. I do take some insurance.
Coaching is not covered by insurance.
Coaching is not covered by insurance.
Are therapy sessions and coaching sessions confidential?
Yes. Your privacy is important to me, and you can trust that our sessions, as well as any of your personal information, is always held in the strictest of confidence.
Confidential information disclosed in private therapy sessions is legally protected. However, there are some exceptions to this, including instances of suspected child or elder abuse, or when a client presents a serious danger of violence toward himself or herself or another person.

I do offer free initial phone consultations or email consultations to answer any questions you may have and get a feeling for what your needs are. This is our opportunity together to make sure that we will be a good fit. Feeling comfortable with your therapist or coach is imperative to a good working therapeutic relationship.
How do I get started?
This is easy. Just give me a call or email me. Once we confirm our first appointment I will email you opening paperwork to fill out and bring to your first session. I offer evening and weekend appointments.
what is the differance between counseling and coaching?
The simplest answer to this is
1. Counseling when using Insurance requires a diagnosis and insurance dictates the number of sessions, the medical necessity of sessions and can choose to cover or not cover sessions.
2. Counseling self pay; No Formal diagnosis in any of your medical history. Nothing goes through insurance.
3. Coaching is all yours, no diagnosis, nothing on your permanent health records.
Counseling tends to be more focused on your past, healing past traumas, making connections as to why feeling, behaving a certain way.
Coaching focuses on today and the future. How are use using things that you know about yourself to make a different future. How to communicate better. How to understand and work through current situations that are bringing you pain or discomfort. A lot of my Coaching clients have been through counseling, they know the connections, worked through past issues, know the coping strategies, but still need support, a listening ear, an objective 3rd ear to help them stay on their self discovery and self improvement path.
Many People just want help. More often than not they do not have a diagnosable Mental Health issue, they are just humans going through human things. For me, to put a label on that is unethical.
